@frank – stuart isn’t forwarding his users’ ip addresses to a usa commercial company, for the most part they will all have already been doing it since they got their modern smartphones, since that’s how modern smartphones (iphone, android, blackberry) actually work. i suspect symbian phones do something similar too.

if you’re *that* paranoid about privacy, wouldn’t you be not using a mobile phone at all since They can track your movements across phone cells?

You can’t be serious. You can’t go round in the UK forwarding your council website users IP addresses to a commercial corp. and that in the USA.

That must surely be against, if not current privacy laws, all accepted practices.

From my end that is a BIG no!

Obviously adds an additional layer, but I quite like this jquery plugin for QR code generation:

SMS shortcodes would be nice in case people don’t have / can’t figure out the QR stuff (although there’s always costs involved, which I suppose can be prohibitive..), along with the actual URL as mentioned earlier.

Oooh, sorry David, forgot to respond to your question. Looks like they’re going to be automatically generated from a template. I’ve got a proof of concept, so, once it’s signed off, I’ll share how I did it

Good stuff Stuart. I’ve been integrating QR codes into our posters for coming events on noticeboards etc. and like finding out about different uses for them.

In answer to David Quinn (5 above) … I just insert them as jpg images – don’t know about anyone else.

How are the planning notices produced? Are they manually generated (i.e Word etc) or are they created from the LA’s ERP software?

Curious about how you’ll get the codes onto the documents.
